Cathy Evans makes colorful wearable art from eclectic found objects and precious metals from her farmhouse studio near Springfield, Missouri. The studio of Big Nose Creations first began in 1995 when her husband, John discovered stone age implements on their property that had faces on them. They applied the concept of age-old artisans to their studio. John retired in 2008, but Cathy continues to make jewelry and attend regional art fairs.
More than anything, Cathy says she enjoys the complete creation process. “For me that means I only start the process when I imagine a pioece of jewelry and make it whole. The wearer completes it when they choose to wear it as a means of self-expression. And the most wonderful thing of all is to see the look of joy on something I made when someone looks at it or wears it every day.”
