Fall Festival in Sequiota Park with Fine Art and Crafts
Sequiota Park, located in SE Springfield, MO, is one of the most beautiful parks in SW Missouri. Walking/biking trails, climbing rocks for the kids, a pond with ducks and a pavilion for those private parties. Many years ago, the Springfield Park Board granted permission to the SW MO Art & Craft Guild to put on a small art festival. Twenty-three years later, this small festival is still going on. Now, it hosts artists from all over the country.
The festival is now what is called a Juried Art festival. What that means is that artists submit pictures of their work and display, along with a brief description of their craft. A panel of judges go through all the applications and pick out the best of the best – and ONLY the best of the best. So, when you go to the show and you see the high quality of artists that are there, you know that we consider them the highest quality of workmanship. They worked hard to be there to show you what they can do.
Why is Art and Fine Craft Products More Expensive than Box Stores?
When you buy a coffee mug from a box store (or online these days), that coffee mug was processed in mass production. They all look alike. You visit a friend on the other side of the country and they can have that exact same mug…BORING! A coffee mug made from an artist at our show will be hand thrown and hand made. No two will be exactly alike. They might be similar, but not exactly alike. Plus, you get to actually TALK to the artist that made that mug….how cool is that?
Is There Going to be Food at Art in the Park Springfield?
This year, we are so excited that Mama Mary’s Navajo Taco will bring their food truck and serving the entire weekend. If you have not had any of their food, you are in for a treat.
